John is excited to welcome Manhattan-based jeweler Jake Matluck for a special pop-up shop at John Derian Dry Goods, 10 East 2nd Street, on November 7th and 8th.
Jake Matluck's jewelry line, launched in 2023, is inspired by ancient goldsmithing techniques he encountered in Greece. Jake hand-fabricates each piece by hand in his New York City studio using his signature 22k yellow gold alloy, natural gemstones, and antique diamonds. Emphasizing materiality, origin, and process, his work resists mass production in favor of intimate, craft-driven artistry.
Introduced to jewelry as a child through his mother, Jake’s earliest experiences bending copper wire and making silver granules sparked a lifelong fascination. That passion solidified in 2016 during his undergraduate studies, and later deepened through formal training at Jewelry Arts Inc., where he honed historic techniques using high-karat gold now a hallmark of his work.
